Welcome to one of the most important chapters of your life! The point when childhood meets adulthood. Life lies in front of you, as you're going through a phase full of fresh ideas, controversy, excitement and powerful emotions... What could be more fascinating than this transitional stage for the growth and development of your personality?

The teenage period consists of three stages:
• the initial stage of 11 to 14
• the middle stage of 14 to 17
• the final stage from 17 to 20

What starts off with your physical establishment- the so-called “puberty” , is gradually completed with the integration of your emotional and social development, as well as your sexual maturity. A person entering adolescence faces contradictory emotions, such as anxiety, embarrassment and shyness, along with intense dynamism and enthusiasm. Puberty for girls is very important as they get their period for the 1st time. It may occur between their 9th to 14th years, and on somewhat rare occasions up until the 16th year. This is an outstanding phase of your life because it marks the transition from being a girl to becoming a woman. Naturally, it is quite expected that you may have many questions about this phase of your life, and EveryDay is here to provide you with some answers.

What's going on with your body?
Your body is gradually preparing for menstruation. You may observe rapid changes taking place, which only signal the new era that is approaching.
You are growing taller, your breasts are getting fuller, at the same time with developing hips and waist and hair growth in your intim area. You may also notice some discharge in your underwear.

The stage above takes about 2 years to develop, and once completed you get your 1st period.
Tips: If you notice excess body hair, breast asymmetry or anything which is of concern to you, do seek your doctor’s advice. Above all, do not worry, as it may be something totally normal. Quite often the increase of female hormones can cause some minor imbalances during the development of your body.

The 1st time
Your period came unexpectedly and you're no where near home...
Don't worry! Usually the 1st period is very mild and won't come through your underwear. Furthermore, wherever you may be, there is a solution!
At school there are always napkins for these cases -ask your teacher. Ask your classmates. Maybe some of them already got their period and can be helpful to you.

Disturbances in your cycle during adolescence are common and you shouldn't be worried.

How often?
-In the beginning, your period may not be stable. An unbalanced cycle is absolutely normal.
-It can even be said that at an early age it's rare to have a regular cycle of 28 days.
-Sometimes it may come within 2-3 months or even twice a month.

How many days?
-The period in adolescence lasts longer (average 7 days) than adulthood (4-5 days).
The amount of blood
-A large amount of blood is common in adolescence.

However the amount of blood will gradually reach average levels. Choosing the right napkin helps you avoid "accidents". The wide EveryDay product range, offers you specialized design and more sizes than competitive products (Mini, Normal, Super, Maxi Night, Extra Long), so you may achieve a perfect fit according to your particular needs.

Pain, cramps
What about pain and cramps in the belly area?
They usually are common period symptoms. However, not all women get them. Some get intense symptoms (dysmenorrhoea), others milder, and some are lucky not to have any!
It's unpleasant for anyone to get them and if this is your case, ask your doctor's advice on how to reduce pain.

Tips: Sports can prove of assistance. Don't stop exercising during period as they can help you deal with period disturbances... All you will need is a trustworthy napkin you can use during exercise.

How does it feel
-You feel changes not only on your body, but also in your mood.
Torrent emotions! You had a fight with your friend or your mother, nothing seems right. Joy may give way to frustration, and anger to laughter. It is perfectly normal. The increase of hormones affects your mood in such a way that you get emotional swings.

Bath or shower?
-The choice is yours. Personal hygiene during your period is a must. Basic cleansing rules should be kept promptly: make sure you use a specialized product which maintains the pH of the intim area.
